The day begins as each before, looking out into the day from where I sit with the sun risen and the butterfly flickering in flight like a coloured snowflake – reminding of life’s woven tapestry of interconnectedness.
Our journey takes us once more through the bustling roads of Jodhpur, with life seemingly weaving us together at different speeds, with journey’s taken and journey’s to be had…. the great circle of life with no beginning and no end.
Arriving at the factory we are warmly greeted, before touring their showroom. Predominantly catering for the American market and other world destinations it is always interesting to see what may lie in ‘fashion’ elsewhere.
We were looking to top up our overspill, having exceeded our container, enabling a further one to be filled. Spacious, air-conditioned and beautifully laid out we were able to leisurely wander and accumulate our thoughts on various items not bought before which would provide an addition/contrast to our shop’s stock.
Agreeing to a number of items worth considering, photos duly taken, we made our farewells and took to the road once more, but this time a return to our green oasis, having completed our ‘shopping’ from this side of the journey.
A quiet, peaceful and restorative afternoon was spent in the company of Deborah Levy’s ‘Real Estate’, stringing thoughts and imagination that passed their way under the heat and haze of a Jodhpur sky towards home ….
Tomorrow will take us to the other half of our journey, a family breakfast shared for ‘Uncle’ and his long time friend and main supplier, following which a trip to the factory where we will finalise the remainder of our purchases.
Containers complete and fully ladened. A new journey to begin, while memories of the butterfly flickering each morning like a coloured snowflake remain etched and indelibly scorched in my mind.
